Client: Prysmian

The projet

This strategic project seeks to improve the electricity interconnection between France and Spain using innovative underground crossings below the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, totalling 1.4 km of horizontal directional drilling.

The solution

The work included installing 24” steel shafts and high density polyethylene (HDPE) sheaths, requiring tailored technical solutions to adapt to the complex geological situation. Therefore, 50” casings were laid to stabilise the drilling through gravel soils. The project also required meticulous management of welding and challenges relating to unforeseen leaks.

At the same time, horizontal directional drilling was carried out in Spain, including landfalls under 100 m high cliffs.

This project reflects our commitment to develop sustainable and innovative infrastructure that supports the energy transition in Europe.
